I ran into some serious glitches on one of the worlds and I just gave up. I'll try the game again soon as I haven't played it since the new patch was released but wow that left me kind of sour.

Bless

The latest patch certainly assisted in certain areas with glitches/lag. I have not encountered anything serious.

I ran into some serious glitches on one of the worlds
I ran into a glitch last night that was almost a show stopper for me. I failed the logic puzzle to unlock one remnant tower. When that happens, then those remnant drones come out and shoot at you. Well I was underground and it seemed one of the drones was stuck in the ice, not above ground, not underground. I left the cave, came back about 5 times and finally that last time it was free to shoot me (and I him)

Other then that, I've not incurred any other major issues, but that leads back to my earlier post about quick saving and the joy of having that, because I could have restored from the quick save instead of either having to go back to the last checkpoint save or keep trying and hoping the glitch would resolve itself (which it did)

As I continue with the game, I noticed a bit of a monotony that that gets a bit tiring. I hate those logic puzzles for the towers, The missions almost always require driving from point A to B on a planet, but then I have to go to point C, D, and even E to finish the mission. Likewise I was doing the Contagion mission, I started off in the docks, and had to travel to various parts in the ship, only to end back at the docks. Seems a little overkill

That is the bane of most RPG's. If you think about it, most RPG missions are go to point A, fetch something/kill something, then go to point B...lather, rinse, repeat.

How well they disguise that, how much story they infuse, how much I care about the characters, how interesting the world is, how many options to complete tasks, etc., will dictate to me how much I can suspend my disbelief, ignore this, and enjoy the game. Some games are really, really good at roping you in, other games I just drop after a certain point.

I haven't played this yet, but I find that sometimes even in games I like, there just are parts that you have to grind through for some perceived benefit. I'm still playing the hell out of Zelda, I just got through a part I had to grind through because I really wanted to upgrade a couple sets of armor, and I needed x amount of this substance, and y amount of some other thing, and after a couple of hours of that, I got tired. I liked the exploring. I hated having to find a specific fish (although man, I got good at spotting them in the water from the hilltops above!).

Oh I understand, but other games such as skyrim and fallout offer a richness that seems lacking in ME. I'm not knocking the game but I'm nearing the end of the main quests and while I can see the end is in sight, I'm anxious to see how it ends. Conversely I liked how Bethesda handled things, to the point where I purposely searched out side quests in both Skyrim and FO4 because those games were so much more captivating

I'm not down on ME, its been enjoyable but just not at the same level of the other RPG games I've played. Perhaps FO4 and Skyrim set the bar so high, that few other games would match or exceed it.

I agree, my fave's on the computer are Skyrim and Morrowind...I think Bethesda has a great formula, and then the mod makers really take things the extra mile. Same goes for Vampire:Masquerade.

Everything sounds like ME:Andromeda is a good game, but just not a *great* game. No worries, I think Sci-Fi doesn't get the love it deserves, so it is good to see people trying.

So I finished up the game, and overall it was an enjoyable game, but my pet peeve remains.

Too many times, I had to wait for the loading screen as I went from Nexus to the ship, then it took too many actions from the Tempest to get to a given planet. Then from the planet I had to (if I was lucky) fast travel to a location. Do the desired action, which usually took traveling to 2 or 3 locations just because. Then I would have to finish it up on another planet or the Nexus which required more loading screens.

I don't want to make it sound like it was a horrible experience, because the game was enjoyable, and I may try playing it again, with some changes to how I handle some situations.

Can you just forego the story and just wander around?

I hate when videogames try to have a "story"... ;)

Not really, some worlds don't open up landing spots until you reach a certain point in the story. You can visit the solar systems but the worlds won't let you land.

Jeez, that doesn't sound like fun. Couldn't they have made worlds available to wander to, but just not have any (significant) missions there until you did the story bit? That just sounds too closed.

Once you land on a planet, there's plenty of side missions, but I haven't found a way to land on any random planet.

Mass Effects 1.06 patch is out and it seems to fix a bunch of bugs, sadly for me on a PS4 at least it increased the instability. I've run into situations where the game seems to be working but the screen is black. I had to force shutdown the game and restart it from the last check point. Thankfully it hasn't happened too much but its already occurred twice in 2 days.

This game's dead, mate. Bioware Montreal has been scaled down and relocated premises, all budgeting has been shifted away from further patches and DLC to support and MP development in the near term, and the Mass Effect series has been put on ice. One of the most anticipated games of the year has managed to mortally wound the series.

Perhaps, but it seems they they made some major work on 1.06. Speaking of that patch, I am noticing some nice improvements over the visuals, so they're continuing to tweak things, though as I said some instabilities were introduced.

"Bring out your dead. Bring out your dead..." ;)

In the wake of BioWare's polarising Mass Effect: Andromeda, fans have wondered where the lauded sci-fi series will go next. The answer, according to people familiar with the studio, is nowhere — at least for the time being. BioWare has put Mass Effect on hiatus and turned Andromeda's developer, BioWare Montreal, into a support studio, according to four sources close to the company.

Tune in later this week when the game "goes on sale" for $30... :)

I'm sure that will be coming sooner then later.

I'm finishing up my second go around, and overall, I find it an ok game. If there was any DLC, I'm not sure I'd spend money on getting it. I think the reviews that mentioned the grind and repetitive nature are on target. It was an ok game, and I don't regret spending money on it, but I can't see myself picking it back up, not like other games at least.

From what I'm reading - nothing includes no more DLC.... it is over for now at least...
I've read that as well, which is why I said if there any DLC. Basically, I'm saying even if a DLC package was offered, I'd not partake.

Wow, I check gamestop.com and they're still selling the game for 60 dollars so I haven't seen any price reduction yet.

Amazon has the standard for $40 and the deluxe for $50.

GS had it on sale for the same but that was last week.

I guess the price isn't low because yet a lot of people don't know the game is dead...

I did tell the locally owned used movie/music/game shop I frequent it's dead because they started getting a lot of copies being turned in (and I told them the Monday after the announcement) and was paying a lot for it. They're happy I did...
[doublepost=1495897856][/doublepost]If you don't want it anymore, take it back to GS - for some reason, they're still giving a lot of money for it.

(Do they know something we don't?) ;)

I finally put it in again last night and tried to get back into it.

I just couldn't. I loved the first 3 and hell even the books. This one just didn't feel the same to me, nor hook me in anyway. I didn't even find the combat that compelling.
