Mathtype 6 in office 2008 help plz

Hey I'm using Mathtype 6 and office 2008 (on a brand new MBP) but I can't inset equation the menu possibility is there but i can't click on it.
I installed Microsoft office first and the mathtype hope someone can help
plz I really need this program in math class

I never got it to work with office 2008... something to do with macos.

Not really that big of a deal though. I just type all my equations in MathType and then copy/paste them into my Word doc.

I cannot cut and paste equations from my word 2008 files into MathType 6.
I get the following message.

Word cannot edit the Equation.DSMT4.

Can anyone help?
