Matte black iPad mini 5?

I don't think Apple will release a black iPad Mini five. Although, I would like to see the iPad mini continue and offer a new Color as you mentioned, but ultimately I think Apple is straying away from the mini with how the Plus model iPhone has also expanded.
I think the mini is a great tablet for portability and acting as a media device, but I see it heading in the way of the iPod, which the iPhone has Ultimately consumed.
And the more I use The haptic home button , the more I appreciate not having the old-style pushbutton from the previous iPhone models. I could see Apple changing this feature on future iPad models to the haptic home button.

That'd be pretty sweet. Don't forget to throw in 3D Touch too.
I think it comes down to size for your choices. Do you want a 7.9 or 9.7? The new 2017 iPad has had solid reports with the battery life and speed. I think for $329.00, it's a good deal. (Aside from the lack of laminate display.)
The Mini has the portability factor and is easy to carry.
Yeah I think I would like the 7.9 better but I just don't want one that's basically gonna be outdated soon. That's why I was hoping for a mini 5 to come out soon
The main purpose of the solid home button on iPhone 7 is to make the device waterproof. I'm not positive they'd be keen to put a Taptic Engine in iPad models just for the home button, especially if it's not waterproofing iPad (which why would they?)
Understandable. I wouldn't worry about unreleased products, being there is no way of truly knowing Apple's plans. If you want the Mini 4, then why not. Enjoy it for what it is and you can find sale prices on the Mini 4 regularly. Good luck.
I would love for Apple to offer a black option for the iPads again. The original black and slate iPad mini is the best looking iPad to date in my opinion. I hate that slate was killed in 2013, it was so nice. iPad Air would've looked dope in slate.
