Mavericks and App store

Nice upgrade - in the process of investigation.

But why doesn't Mac app store register that I actually have the OS ?

I was wondering the same, but then I saw that ML and Lion have the same status for me in MAS. Still weird, though

I think the OS is kept there for further download in case you need the installation file - creating a backup on USB etc. But then, I can be completely wrong, that was my logic behind that

above poster is right, some people wish to download it again while using Mavericks for installation of other computers or creating a flash mavericks drive for a clean install.
