Mavericks and App store

Nice upgrade - in the process of investigation.

But why doesn't Mac app store register that I actually have the OS ?

I was wondering the same, but then I saw that ML and Lion have the same status for me in MAS. Still weird, though

I think the OS is kept there for further download in case you need the installation file - creating a backup on USB etc. But then, I can be completely wrong, that was my logic behind that 🙂

above poster is right, some people wish to download it again while using Mavericks for installation of other computers or creating a flash mavericks drive for a clean install.
