Can the oversaturated color profile in Mavericks somehow be changed? It's terrible for designing, especially when working with light grays which appear much darker when I disconnect my MacBook from external display.

You can adjust the display profile using either the calibration software built-in System Preferences -> Displays -> Color, or much more accurately with an external calibrator.

ColorMunki, Spyder4 are two brands I know of. The one I use is the Huey, but it isn't made anymore.
