Problem instelling mavericks on imac 7.1

Hi there,

I have been trying to install Mavericks on my 24" imac 7.1.
It just Will not start up after install. Tried from AppStore in 10.6.8 and clean install. Can only go to 'restore Osx 10.9.1' after starting up with option pressed.

Specs: 2.4", 2,8 GHz, 4gb, 1tb.

Who can help me out?

we didn't have much luck w Mavericks on an early-2008 iMac (4GB) - after evaluating Yosemite beta, we ended up upgrading to the final release today - performs *much* better to the point I couldn't recommend Mavericks. Hope you get the same mileage!

7.1 wants Yose

So I have:

Dec 2007 IMAC, 7.1 with Snow Leopard 10.6.8
2 GHz Intel Core 2Duo
1 GB RAM DDR2 SDRAM 667 MHz, Port 1
Empty, Port 2
500 GB HD

I want to install Yosemite, but I'm worried about slow down, but I don't want to second mortgage for a new Mac.

I'm considering installing RamJet's 2 GB and 4 GB RAM set and then installing Yosemite.

Should I follow through???

Anyone used RamJet's stuff?

Never used RamJet, but it's probably fine as long as they back their stuff up with a decent warranty.

I've got a Mid 2007 iMac (same model as yours) running Yosemite perfectly fine. I upgraded the original 2GB RAM to 4GB a couple years ago for Mountain Lion. Then a while later put in an SSD. It flies! I'm getting around 200MB/s read speeds and it boots up in a matter of seconds.

You will certainly need the RAM (4GB minimum IMO) to run Yosemite. And an SSD is a great speed boost in every way. But it should work just fine with your hard drive, it will just be slower than Snow Leopard is. But you will be able to run the latest applications and get the latest security patches.

No reason you shouldn't be able to get a few more years out of your iMac. So far it's been one of the longest supported Macs Apple has made in recent history. Ours will be 8 years old this August!

My mid 2007 Imac 2.0ghz, 4gb RAM ran both Yosemite and Mavericks, but their were some slowness/lag issues in the Finder. It was so annoying that I went back to snow leopard.

Hallo everyone,
I've an iMac 7,1 mid 2007 with Snow Leopard, I still have not update to Moutain Lion because I often read that it become iMac very slow even if Mountail L. can run on imac 7,1.

I want to know if there is this problem also with OS 10.9.

Has anyone try? Or someone know if it runs on imac without problem?

Thanks
