Hi all,

I have a MBP from 2010 (i5, 8GB, 512SSD, no retina) running Mavericks. All works well but I never managed to install any photo management software as the original CDs it came with (containing iPhoto) never worked under Mavericks.

I ignored the problem for some time but it is now time to look into a photo management software. I also need to access an old library created in iPhoto.

What is my best option? Upgrade to Yosemite and get the free 'Photo'?

Thanks all for the kind replies.

Right now I am in a similar situation. I have always used iPhoto, but I cannot stand Apple's Photos.
When you are open to 3rd party developers, then have a look on "Unbound".
Nice app with nice design and attention to detail - something Apple has lost in the last years.

Yeah i grudgingly went with Photos.. It has the best support for things like slo-mo, burst shots, etc.
