I'm still trying to figure out what makes Mavericks reorder my desktops every time I click on an icon (on the dock) to call an already running app.

So let's say I have Xcode on desktop #2 and Safari on #4. While in Xcode, I click on the Safari icon from the dock. Voilà, now Xcode is on #2 but Safari has moved to #3, moving whatever was in #3 over to the right. Is there a way to avoid this? So far, I managed to open different apps on different desktops through the Assign To of the dock, but I'd like Mavericks to refrain from shuffling desktops, it's annoying.

    Any tip?

Also known as the "who could possibly want this ever to happen but we'll make it a default" box.

I'm not the OP, but I was wondering about the same thing. Thank you!
