I've got a mid 2010 C2D Mini w/ 8Gb of RAM. Will this run Mavericks OK? Is there any reason not to upgrade?

I have been debating the same thing while I consider upgrading from 10.8.5 ML. What version of OS X are you running now? If you are still using Snow Leopard and expect to maintain compatibility with older OS X programs and device drivers when you switch to Mavericks you will be in for a big surprise. If you don't care about running older programs or older devices then it might be worth upgrading. Do your Time Machine backup(s) before the upgrade. You might also want to post in the MacRumors Mavericks forum for extra suggestions.

Yes, your system is on this list from Apple and will run Mavericks.

I would take a look at the features listed here and decide it something there appeals to you. Some people have had problems with Mavericks, but most have not.

Make sure you have a good Time machine backup before you upgrade and you can easily roll back if you don't like Mavericks.

You are practically in the same boat that I am in. You will want to check the Apple site for compatibility but as indicated by the user in the previous post your Mini hardware should be gtg for Mavericks. Since you are already using ML then Mavericks should be an easier upgrade for you. There still could be some driver compatibility issues with some external devices...printers, etc.. until the manufacturers can update their drivers for those devices. I plan on upgrading my 2.3Ghz i7 Mini from ML to Mavericks soon. I might wait for the 10.9.2 release.

I have the current i5 Mini and it's running Mavs, no issues. The temporary spinning beach is still in Mavs just like it was in ML. I do like Mavs a lot.

I have mavericks running on my 2010 C2D 2.13 Macbook Air with 4GB Ram. No issues.

I also have it running on my 2011 Mac Mini 2.5 i5 with 16GB Ram. It was working with 8GB Ram fine also.

It runs great on my late 2009 Mini (upgraded to 8gm ram and 750gb HDD) so I would so say go ahead.

I have an early 2009 Mini, the earliest model that can run Mavericks. I had a shop do the upgrade to Mountain Lion soon after it came out when I had them install an extra 4GB of RAM.

The only reason I have not upgraded to Mavericks yet is that my internet connection is rather slow, so it would take for ever and a day to do so.

So if you buy a new mini off apples website what does it come with, Mavericks?

What happens if you buy a apple refurbished mini do those come with Mavericks also?

The new Minis will have Mavericks. For the refurbs, the late 2012 will have ML while the 2011 models will come with Lion installed.

My Early 2009 Mini that I upgraded to 8GB of ram runs Mavericks as does my Late 2010 MBA. Upgrade it, you won't regret it.

it's a good os, it's not the ***** (comparatively) that lion and ml was. Mavericks I think will bring new life to older machines in addition.

My Early 2009 with 4GB RAM runs Maverick swimmingly... much better than I thought it would.

But as with any new OS, check the 'net for any lingering bugs to see if they affect you or your usage.
