I believe this is all due to live sports. All these services are adding live sports, which both drive up costs and add restrictions to prevent “sharing” the sporting event and “robbing” them of fees they need to pay the leagues.

But the whole concept of addding sports is to get more clients. And if that strategy isn't working... why should they increase costs for existing users?

So you have multiple homes and your complaining about paying for a service multiple locations ?

Sigh

Totally valid point. The service license is for a STREAMING SERVICE. Not an appliance or set top box with "maybe" a fixed location. Why should he pay more just for having another place? What are you, a communist?

That means they'll likely reap the same benefits as Netflix too

NEW YORK (AP) — Netflix’s subscriber and earnings growth accelerated in its latest quarter as the video streaming service benefits from a crackdown on freeloading viewers, an expansion into advertising and an acclaimed programming lineup.

Netflix added 8 million subscribers during the April-June period, marking a 37% increase over the same time last year. It was the sixth-consecutive quarter of that Netflix’s subscriber gains have increased from the previous year, a trend triggered by the 2022 downturn that served as a wake-up call for the Los Gatos, California, company.

And Netflix is still financially thriving. The company’s profit in its latest quarter rose 44% from last year to $2.15 billion, or $4.88 per share — a figure that exceeded the estimates of analysts polled by FactSet Research. Revenue climbed 17% from last year to $9.56 billion, also eclipsing analysts’ projections.
Honestly I doubt it, Netflix and Disney both have massive consumer loyalty and major tentpoles that keep people, Max has squandered a lot of both of those and seriously diluted HBO.

We’ll see, but my suspicion is this wont work out as well for WB/Discovery as it has for Netflix and Disney

I am so tired of this. Oh you want to watch 4K on your 4K TV? Pay for a family plan. I live by myself Netflix and HBO are pure 💩

The kids are spoiled rotten today. They are not in college to watch movies and play computer games. If they had less electronics in their rooms that might find time to study and learn about the courses they are there to attend.

Save money kids, get a base level job to get some humility and see what life is like without an education. Then maybe you will be more interested in doing college work which is classified as studying the assigned books and materials.

If a person can't be at two homes at the same time, there should not be an extra fee. An account should be connected to a person, not a home.

And what about somebody who travels a lot and uses a streaming service from many locations?

People have been saying stupid crap like this about college students for as long as there have been colleges.

And the kids will keep being smart enough to ignore it and keep having fun while learning.

Given that video games as we know them have existed since the 1970s, as has home video, I'd seriously doubt anybody on this forum is old enough to not have played video games and watched movies in college.

Meh, I canceled Netflix when my Verizon discount expired last year, and I've been a member since the DVD days. Was not going to renew Max either, but they gave me a discount last minute. The last thing I watched on Max is House of Dragons. I share my Max and Disney accounts with my sister. I subscribe to Disney mostly for her kids. Make sharing difficult and I'll take my money elsewhere.
