Max easily damaged mesh headband

It seems it is not

While everyone is talking about the headband probably gets damaged very easily, is there actually someone who has damaged the headband mesh? (not talking greasy dirt from unwashed head/hair)
there is not even 1 Youtube video, trashing the Airpods Max, to see how durable it actually is.

Why is that

They usually don't have any problems trashing a 1000,- iPhone, but not the Max ?!

Well, I'm not advocating for either side right now, but it does seem like it's a bit soon to expect wear-and-tear flaws to that degree. That mesh isn't made out of paper. Even if it's weak, it'll still take a bit to rip unless you literally take a knife to it.

Need to give it a good few months before we can really say for sure.

It seems durable. But if you accidentally stab it with a pencil I expect it to rip.

Really the only problem I foresee with the mesh is using it as some kind of carrying handle just seems like a terrible idea. Your nail can catch a piece of the mesh etc.

The way the headband is designed, you grab it and carry it by its polyurethane-wrapped stainless steel frame. That frame is built like the proverbial tank. There's no way to accidentally catch the mesh or to do damage to it by carrying the headphones or using them.

Well yea, but your hands are still holding a portion of the mesh when you carry them right? The mesh kind of floats under the frame to bear some of the weight before your head touches the steel frame. Anyway I don't personally do a lot of traveling with these things, they are strictly for home for me, but if I did I would consider investing in a more durable case for this reason.

Your hands don’t hold the mesh. Your hand holds the steel frame. Part of the mesh rests lightly in your hand (similar to how the mesh rests on your head when wearing).

Anyway, I find the mesh to be robust and the design of the headband to be quite smart. Others disagree.

But I can understand wanting a more protective case for travel. (I’ll just use the Apple case and put them in my bag.)

Alright, another few months have passed, and still no damaged Mesh
can we assume all that hype about the fragility of the mesh was just....bull ?

I throw my Max unprotected in my back pack every work day, and it still looks as new.

I don't think it is that easy to damage. If you're worried, you can get a silicone sleeve to go over it.

just when the Max introduced everyone was screaming bloody murder over the "fragile" mesh headband 😂

I’ve seen only one post with a ripped mesh. Mine has been going well with no wear except aesthetically. The aluminum has scuffs

No, just that when the Max cam out, everyone was screaming about how easy it would be damaged or wear out.
But the mesh held up great and is pretty resilient, and just shows how easy people complain about Apple

Unfortunate, but is looks like there is another material inside the mesh, probably giving it more strength.
maybe using a blue marker could make it less visible.

OMG. And you're actually blaming this on Apple and the mesh? You put a metal object capable of causing damage next to the Max without thinking what could happen? You need to take the blame for this, not Apple or the headphones.
