Hi I just got a new Mac mini M1 16GB /1TB abs I hooked it up to my 65” OLED Sony tv.
I can’t get 4K working via the display settings but I can via seitchres but then I can’t read the font.
Any suggestions please
Cheers

It should be working both via HDMI and USB-C, but which output on the Mac Mini are you using? Any adapter along the way?

I get 4K at 60 Hz both directly via HDMI to HDMI (2.0) and via an USB-C to HDMI adapter. But you get more scaling options in Macos, if you use the USB-C port on the Mac.

As this is a TV. See if it has a PC mode for the port you are using. May be some other name. This should turn off any automatic enhancements. If it doesn't. Go through the picture/video settings and disable all enhancements in any regular or advanced settings.

Also check your TV's zoom/scaling settings as it should be whatever label Sony uses for 1:1 scaling.

Hi OP, I've got a 65" SONY BRAVIA X900F connected direct via HDMI to HDMI. Works perfectly. After connecting, I open System Preferences > Displays > Scaled .... Here (if you're looking at the 4 pics) I choose the 2nd from the left.

If you like you can hold down "option" then click on the word "scaled" and it'll give you the various resolutions. So 2nd from left is "Looks like 1920 x 1080." If you choose 3840 x 2160 the text will look too small. The "Looks like 1920 x 1080 is very easily readable on a 65" and text is sharp.

Oh and I also have the "High Dynamic Range" box unchecked. I've read a lot of other posts saying to leave it unchecked, I would agree with this.

Agree totally , I have the same tv but smaller and in my experience 1080p is more than good enough , 4K and everything is so tiny I can’t see a thing ?. Probably puts a lot less strain on the mini’s video out / gpu too
