I love the Max but using it on my commute has proven to me how much convenience/ usability the 5.8 has vs the Max - so much easier to one hand and quickly get what you need.

but the screen on the Max is amazing - much nicer to read on. I haven’t made a final choice yet but I am not 💯 happy with either, I bet 6.1 is the sweet spot.

For those of you with an 11 Max (or XS Max), how do you feel about the size? Too bulky in the hand/pocket, or worth the trade off? How do you deal with the increased difficulty of one-handed use?

Please tell me your experiences. :)
Specifically iPhone 11 Pro Max is too big and heavy, hard to use, uncomfortable to lug around. I have big hands and I can use it but not with ease. Hand needs to do lot of stretching. For me best size is 5.8 inch and the weight around 5-6 ounces.

Had a 6 Plus, 6s Plus and then a 7 Plus before getting the iPhone X - it was nice to get back to a larger screen. My hands aren't THAT big (can palm a basketball with both hands, but that's more about finger strength than size) but using a Plus/Max one-handed has never been a challenge.

Thing i found is they’re both two handed devices especially because of iOS. So may as well have the bigger screen. I still do the same hand gymnastics trying to use either one handed.

Bigger kb. Better for viewing pics and video. Battery. And if you’re spending a premium on xdr display then bigger the better.

I’ve had the larger sized iPhones since the 6+, all the way up to the Xs Max, but I downsized when I bought the 11 Pro. The larger size just doesn’t fit very well in my pocket. I picked up my 11 Pro on 9/20 at my local Apple Store, and it’s the absolute perfect size - fits nicely in my pocket, and is still large enough to see well enough with my middle-aged eyes. Also, I really only use my phone a lot when I’m at work or otherwise away from home; but while at home, I tend to use the iPad Mini 5 most of the time I’m using any device. So I felt I really didn’t need or want the larger 11 Pro.

Fits in my pockets usually but I also have a bag that slings across just for the phone.

one hand doable, two better.

not really wanting to sacrifice screen size, makes a difference for me so

🤷🏻‍♀️

XS Max here. It feels just about OK without the case, with case, it looks too bulky. It's also somewhat heavy when holding for long time, makes my pinky tired. I heard iPhone 11 Max is even heavier. Yikes...

It's really the upper limit for me. I cannot imagine myself using bigger phone than this.

It's the same physical size / foot print as my 8 Plus, the Max is just all screen. Personally i love the size, i got used to it very quickly. The screen on the Max is even more amazing, battery life too. You can't really use those phones one-handed anymore, but because of the large screen and battery it's a good trade off. I always had more interest in the Plus / Max version.

I have always updated to the non Plus/Max Iphones but this year I decided to make the jump to the larger screen size and so far I am happy with my decision. I have gotten use to the larger size quicker then I thought I would

Overall I dig the Pro Max size, but it's gotten almost impossible to operate with one-hand - which is high on my list when I judge usability.

Pro Max is the exact same size of my old 6S Plus; but since the Max lost the bezels, and unlocking & getting back to the home screen requires my thumb to get way to the bottom of the area which used to be bezel, it's a challenge to balance the phone in-hand and not drop it.

Ugh - but I wouldn't want a smaller screen size.

I’m having a really hard time with this as well, I love the extra screen but it just doesn’t sit comfortably in my pocket and/or hand. I really do think that 6.1” size is the sweet spot but I really like OLED. I might just keep my XS from last year another year and decide from there.

Oh yeah I also find the 6.1 the sweet spot but the Pro Max OLED & cameras are very very cool

Went from the X to the Pro Max and hated the size the first week, thought it was too big and heavy. I'm used to it now and enjoy the size. However I could be tempted to move to the 6.1 next year (depending on specs and design)

I went back and forth on this I had a 6 max and when the X came out I figured it would be the best for me in that I could get the same screen in a smaller form factor but I ended up missing the max and using the phone wasn't that much more comfortable. Last time I went back to the max and I really like it. I think the reason is most quick activities I take care of with my watch so I think I prefer a better experience when I want to use the phone for media or web so the bigger screen is more preferable to me than better one handed use. I also agree that I found that I was using both basically two handed and if you are using them two handed the max is a better experience to me. I don't think I one hand the phone that often as those are usually the types of things I use the watch for.

Just exchanged my midnight green 11 Pro 256GB for a midnight green 11 Pro Max 256GB. Was surprised it was actually in stock at my local Apple store. Yeah its bigger and a little heavier, but I use my watch for most notifications, and I don't take my in to the gym with me while I'm working out. I have my watch for that. Figured I had the XS last year, so this year I might as well change it up. If the reports of Apple going to a 5.4 and 6.7 pan out which unless they really change it up, both are unusable to me...

Maybe it's just me, but I think the whole size thing with the Max iPhone is mostly in people's heads (i.e. because it's a "Max" phone and people have the option to go smaller, they magnify the size difference in their heads). The Max iPhone honestly isn't that much bigger than the regular Pro (exact same thickness,
1/5" wider and 1/2" taller), and compared to the regular 11, is basically the same size (given that the regular 11 has a thicker bezel).
