Is there a maximum number of songs that can fit on a 40GB iPod?

I listen to a lot of punk, so there are a lot of short songs.

Thanks

It's only limited by the space - the quote they give is an estimate

If this helps...

a 40 GB iPod will end up being 37.0 GB if it is formatted in the same proportion as the 20 GB one. Whatever will fit in 37 GB will fit on your iPod, despite the number of songs. If you have 1 minute songs, you're going to fit 10 to 20 thousand. If you have four minute songs, then you're going to fit about 5,000. It's by volume and HD capacity. :)

I wonder if you had a lot of songs that were encoded at 2kbps and second long, that would be 3 million songs if my math is correct. Would a 60 gigabyte ipod really hold over 1 million songs???

another related question...

Ok, so I am ripping a bunch of songs from Complitations.

The problem now is I have hundreds of "artists" that may only have one song, and I don't have any other albums so no more will be added.

Is there a way to take some artists out of the "artists" listing, but keep the songs under the "album" listing?

Thanks

Figured it out (I think)

I thought I had "Compilations" checked, but I didn't.
