Is anyone else having issues signing into their Max subscription that was purchased through Apple? I purchased the yearly subscription and have 9 months left, but when I try to sign in or to restore my account, I get the notification that I don’t have an active subscription. Not sure if this is an Apple or Max problem. This is since the new change from HBO to Max. I installed the new app and it finds my account, but not my active subscription.

I tried signing out, deleting the app, resetting my password, none worked. It’s happening on all my devices, phone, iPad and Apple TV.

Is the HBOMax/Max account domiciled in the USA?

People who have subscriptions from regions outside the USA can no longer use their non-USA accounts to access USA Max as of May 23.

Yes, it’s in the USA.

I called Max customer service and the representative just said that they are working on some issues. However, didn’t indicate when the problems would be resolved. I was told that they weren’t able to see subscriptions purchased through Apple. I was surprised to hear that.

I’m hoping that it resolves without having to contact Apple. I can envision being ping ponged between Apple and Max, each blaming the other.🤷🏼‍♀️

I'm surprised to hear this. Sounds like the transition to Max did not work smoothly for all HBOMax subscribers.

Thanks for the update.

I cannot speak to the issue as it relates to a subscription through Apple... I got my HBM/Max > Max subscription through ATT (it's a freebie perk as a joint subscriber to ATT Wireless and ATT DirecTV), and I had NO issue moving from HBO/Max to Max on AppleTV... just downloaded the Max app, and logged in with the same credentials... moved the ole HBO/Max to a app folder where I store "obsolete" stuff... works perfectly.

Yes. I had the same exact problem. Bought the yearly subscription in March through in-app purchase. I had to bite the bullet and buy it again at full price though because I wanted to see the Succession and Barry series finales.

Edit: just went to the setting screen in the new Max app. Even though it kept telling me I had no active subscription when I tried to restore my previous purchase the ‘Subscription’ tab on the Max setting screen says “You have 2 active subscriptions with Max.” They are the Ultimate Ad-free and Legacy Ad-free. JFC.
