Maxi iPad really a MBA?

I think others have touched on this, but what if rumored 12" iPad is really just a 12" MBA? What if the analysts have it wrong, just like when they all said an iPad mini wouldn't happen, and all the parts leaks were fakes? I can see apple streamlining the MBA line to a 12" size, retina, with multiple configurations. Thoughts?

fake rumor, Apple wont merge iOS and OSX thus Macbook and iPad
they disagreed about Microsoft's way: they wont launch hybrid.
tablet for tablet use
laptop for laptop use
as simple as Apple

I think these rumors usually start because of display panels that Apple is supposedly ordering. Unless you think the new MBA will have a touchscreen, I don't see how it could be confused with an iPad...

I wonder if the analyst are all assuming that Apple will make a MS Surface like device simply because Microsoft did.
