Finally. We're in May. I get a breather for this month's challenge.

I have my walking/running distance challenge again that I seem to be getting every other month, will do as usual and ignore it. Apple should really put some focus on making these challenges more "diverse" ...

There appear to be 6 goals they cycle through:
All 3 rings # times
Double move goal # times
Total calories / average calories per day
Total exercise minutes / average exercise minutes per day
Total miles / average miles per day
Close ring # times this month

They will adjust up or down depending on how you did for that challenge in at least the past month.

Yea, and it’s been like this for what, 6.5 years now? Meanwhile they have added lots of workout types….
Apple has all my data, they know that I do a cycling workout 300+ times a year, they know I do not do a walk/run workout more than 2-3 times a year… is it a good thing they don’t do anything with my data? Maybe

For me these standard challenges aren’t motivating anymore, it’s just pushing for more and more, nothing else.
At 62 I don’t need to be pushed to do 100 workout minutes vs 90 for example.
That’s what I meant with “more diverse”.
And I realize we are all different…

Sorry for the rant

Oh, no worries. The workouts are good if you have no personal goals. When I was training for a half marathon, that went out the window. Also, I’m cycling much more often now and have similar issues.

So I'm not going to change my move goal, I'm going to enjoy May! :):D
I agree, I sometimes get monthly challenges that, if I were to try and meet them, wouldn't really help my real goals (run lots of miles and keep my weight in check).

Granted, if I didn't have those personal goals then the random monthly challenges would be more useful to me.

When the random challenge aligns with my goals, though, that is nice - I use the challenge as an additional incentive to keep pushing during a tough run, for example.
