Yesterday the computer wouldn't let me update any of the software. I shut it off, and go to sleep. I wake up to turn it on, and it won't get past the white screen with the apple and the loading circle. Maybe my displeasure with the imac is because it's just been nothing but problems. Could it not be loading/starting up because the memory? I don't have the original memory in it. But it started up yesterday just fine.

Lots to go on here but I would recommend replacing the memory with the original if you have it and see what the result is. If they are not available, try removing 2 of 4 slots if you are using all of the slots. You could also mix and match the slots to tell you if you have a bad module.

If it is not memory, try disk utility and see if you need repairing, it could be as simple as that.

Let us know how you make out.

I put the original memory in, and it still won't get past the white screen with the apple logo with the spinning loading circle. I can't get to disk utility, because it won't get past the white screen. I guess it time to call apple. to they take calls on a Sunday?

Ok I kept restarting it, and now it turned on. Odd.
