I have a MB Core Duo and I booted it up today and it says "No Battery Available" with a black x in the battery image on the bar at the top of the screen. Also, the light on the power adapter is green, and when I pull the cord the computer shuts off.

Is there anything I can adjust or reset to see the battery again? I have reset the battery in its compartment twice to no avail. Everything looks fine.

EDIT: I have tried resetting the SMC by taking out the battery, unplugging, holding down the power button for 5 seconds, and reassembling. No change.

Sounds like a dead battery. There have been a few on the new Intel machines. Take it back to Apple. 🙁

Sounds like a dud man...did you check the power indicator on the battery itself? taking it back is your best bet.
