so I need some help. my daughter wants a laptop for xmas and naturally im gonna get a Mac. but she plays games like Sims 4 and while she is sharing with my sons mbp 13inch Touch Bar with 16 gigs of ram, she can make the fans spin.
she wants a rose gold laptop putting me in the mb line, but im not sure if its got enough umph for games. The laptop will mostly be for school work but as we know games always enter the picture. I always get MBPs and they last me 4,5,6 years. will the mb retain its performance and get her 4 or 5 years or should I just go with the MBP?
its all about the color for her....

Mac’s are not really gaming machines, the Sims 4 might be a big heavy for the 12” MacBook.

None of the macs are suited for gaming, you’ll need to explain to her that if she wants the smooth gaming she’ll need to get a black or silver MBP. I wouldn’t get the MB as she’ll be unhappy with the performance.

Buy her a Windows laptop or desktop computer or install Windows on the Mac.

The Mac has far more FPS when running under Windows than OSX.

Yea she should be able to buy a skin for the MacBook Pro and since there is no light up logo anymore it may even be easier :)

I think that's a good way to go, personally. The 13-inch touchbar MBP sounds like the better machine for this instance.

The only computer on which I can really play Sims 4 with high detail is my superfast Hackintosh. MBP 2015 on lowest detail, lowest resolution, lowest everything turned into a helicopter within 5 minutes. Official forum rep told me I should put the laptop on the desk (as the name suggests, laptop is a machine to put on a desk) with a cooling pad underneath.

I haven't had a chance to test the new MBPs with it but I hope she doesn't expect HQ settings. And, sadly, it is true. Set up Windows on the Mac and watch the game work as it should.
