I am torn between a MB and MBP. I will use it for photoshop CS3 and then probably CS4. I dont use big files, just raw from a Nikon D300 and never have more than 5 layers open. Is a MB 2.4 with 4gigs ram going to be suitable for my needs.?

I would get a MB and an external display. The MB and MBP can be limiting when it comes to screen real estate.
If pressed for cash (who isn't?), I would get the 2.0GHz MB and a 23" ACD.

An external screen could be very useful to the OP, but I really don't think you can describe the current ACDs as being a good choice for someone who's pressed for cash.
Thanks for the replies. The amount of cash is not the real issue. I just don't want to spend more on a machine that will be too much for what I need to do now. Given that nehalem will be out in a year or so...it seems silly to buy an overpowered machine for future proofing...when the future machine will be much faster.
Portability and weight also come into it.
I will be getting two 23 inch ACDs to go with it.
One ACD is to use with my PC...for games...and the other for the MB.

Since you're getting the ACD's, the MB would do quite fine. I'd suggest the MBP but only for the display quality which it would seem you don't need.
