MB Pro shutdown w/o Magsafe adapter

Hi all,

My 15" MB Pro is shutting down without the magsafe ac adapter connection. Battery status is showing "charged"; batteryupdate ver. 1.2 installed. This MB Pro is barely one month old! I have tried removing the battery and doing a reboot but the unit will not boot on battery power alone.

Please help.

Update: Did the SMC reset but am getting the same problem.
