Try booting from the DVD (hold down the C key after the startup chime) and repair the disk and permissions. If its a no-go, archive and install a clean copy.

Did you upgrade? Archive install? Erase and install?
 
Same thing happened to me

I'm at the same stage. No disk errors. When I reboot, I get a blue screen with a black cursor error in it.

Did you have APE installed? (Application Enhancer) Its used for some third part software.. cant recall the name right now....
