MB046LL/A - When was this iPhone Made?

I have been told by apple that i will be getting a "New" iPhone from them. Of course i don't trust them when it comes to this.. Is this a refub?? when was this iPhone made? (like before 3.1 was released or what?)

MB046LL/A is the iPhone 3G. Most likely, you're getting a "refurb." I put that in quotes because, as has been noted numerous times on here, an Apple "refurb" isn't really a refurb. Returned units are completely taken apart, the exterior components replaced with new ones, and the batteries and defective compomnents are replaced. New serial numbers are then given to these units, they're reassembled, and sent to Apple stores in white boxes.

A more accurate term would be "re-serialized." And aside from the serial numbers that identify them as replacement units, it's usually impossible to tell them apart from new iPhones.

ok, but i was told i am getting a new phone and i have gone thru a new process than the usual "Check Repair Status" thing i check it as an "Order" also i had to sign a paper and fax it in. am i getting a new phone?

If its an 8GB 3G, then you could be getting the new phone. If its 16GB 3G, then its def a refurbished.

everything is refurbed nowadays, there really is no difference just the box, the covers are all brand new

I took mine into the store, and they swapped it out with a whitebox replacement.
I looked up the serial number here http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html and found it had been manufactured about a week before.

So it makes me think it's a roll of the dice.
