My store only had open box for $650 with $150 gift card.
Instead I picked up an open box mbp late 2011 for $800 and got the $150 gift card. Only had 4 battery charges on it.

i would love to get a deal like that. I am looking to get a mac for someone as a wedding gift, but not looking forward to spending $1300 on a mac for him + something for her =/

I can not get me local Best Buy to give me a gift card on an open box. Will try another location today. $650 with a 150 gift card on a 2011 model sounds great to me for wife/son. (Keep in mind I just paid 1200 with a 150 gift card for the 2012 model last week........ )

I went to a local Best Buy to purchase an open box 2011 MacBook Air 1.6/4/128. Everything was in the box, and machine was flawless.

The price was $919.99, minus 10% for $827.99. I inquired about the $150 Best Buy gift card and was told that the gift card promotion offered by other Best Buy stores was not accurate, and that Best Buy was really only honoring the following: http://www.bestbuy.com/studentdeals

What that website allows you to do is to get a coupon for $100 off any macbook pro or macbook air. You must have a valid edu email address, where upon after signing up, a link for the coupon will be sent to your edu email address.

Ultimately, I got the 2011 MacBook air for $727.99, plus sales tax.

Not bad!:)
