Vaio pros are good laptops, but they are worse than the mac in terms of performance and battery life.

The Vaio would be far more efficient at running Windows than the Mac would be under bootcamp or as a VM so how on earth is the performance worse?

You should not make such inaccurate misleading statements and pass them off as fact.

I've had some of the absolute worst experience from the Sony laptops. The sony laptops in my household were the very definition of "all looks and no substance".

If I ever went back to needing a windows computer, I'd stick with lenovo, maybe asus/samsung as a 2nd choice.

If you need windows, go windows but I'd say you can't beat the MBA for overall user-experience.

The OP did not say a word that he/she wants to run Windows on the MBA.
But here is a fellow member's experience of the MBA on Windows 8: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1606590/
He/she reported to have even better performance on benchmarks and 11 hour battery life.
Either way, if one's planning on buying a mac, it is most logical to assume that that person is going to use OSX.
With your logic, I could argue how the performance and poor system stability of the Vaio Pro under hackintosh.

As for performance, the MBA has HD5000 whereas Vaio Pro has HD4400.
MBA has 802.11ac, Vaio has 802.11n.
MBA has Core i5-4250U or Core i7-4650U, whereas Vaio pro has Core i5-4200U or Core i7-4500U.
MBA got 11 hours of battery life (under Mountain Lion) and Vaio pro got less than 8 hours under light load (Windows 8.1). (According to Anandtech.com)
Of course you can add a sheet battery to the Vaio pro, but that would make it bulkier the the MBA.

I think I am justified to have an opinion that the MBA has a better performance with these supporting evidences. I also believe that "inaccurate misleading statements" is a bit of an hyperbole. At most you could have said that my argument contains confirmation bias as I am only selecting facts that support my argument.

I'll admit that that the Vaio Pro has a great design, very light, thinner than the MBA, and has a better screen, but I strongly believe that the MBA offers more in terms of performance.

Completely disagree. Could be the luck of the draw, but we've had five Vaios in our family from 2000 onwards and they all lasted a crazy long time, problem-free. This includes a 2003 Vaio S170 that is *still* used regularly (gave it to an old uncle in a foreign country...) and a 2006/2007 Vaio that is still used several hours a day.

in fact, vaio pro has certainly solid values like aesthetic, design, full hd, thickness..
but battery life and wifi connection really do matter in term of mobility laptop

design - both laptop are great well designed, vaio pro is lighter and thinner but mba has better trackpad overall

screen - full hd against 1366x768, however does it be necessary to get such high res over batter life?

battery life - mismatch in favor to macbook air, it does matter to me since haswell has increased significantly battery life

wifi - sad to see that Sony has revealed themselves vaio pro has real wifi issue
both laptop need special Ethernet adapter

You might as well wait for the new MBA which is rumored to have a retina display and new form factor.

Although the OS is a big factor here. Do you prefer OSX or Windows?

i have any preference on it
i ve always been on win but i admit, i spent more time to figure out so many times why sometimes for no explainable reason, system went down and crashed
like i said before, basic use like browsing, watching, downloading...
easy to use and more stable OS should have my favor
