Would there be a noticeable difference in battery life between the rMBP 13" and the MBA 13"? The dilemma I have is that I could get a rMBP of I spend just a little more. Is the MacBook Air significantly lighter than the rMBP also?

MBA 13" has 12-15 hours of battery life, and rMBP 13" has about 9 hours. But even the rMBP is good for one day use without taking the charger.

The MBA 11"/13" and rMBP 13" are about the same in performance, except for programs that can use GPU acceleration.

The deciding factors are screen and portability. If you like the retina screen, which IMO is gorgeous, then rMBP 13" is the choice. If portability is the deciding factor, then MBA 13" or 11" (11.6") is the right choice. If you must have both, then wait for retina MBA 12". :)

For me, portability is defiantly a factor, because of univeristy and the fact that I commute, on the bus between univeristy and home. Also battery life is important for the same reason.

Ok so i'm thinking about getting a MBA 13" later this year (if Apple don't release a retina display model) and the main reason i'm going for the Air, is because of the battery life. I just wondered if Apples quoted 12 hours of battery life is accurate? Do you get 12 hours out of yours?

Also what is your opinion on the portability of the 13" MBA? is it easy to carry around in a bag for university? what do you guys think?

It totally depends on what you're doing. If you're watching YouTube videos or Netflix all day, you definitely won't be getting 12 hours. But if you're just browsing the web and typing things on Microsoft then there's a possibility.

I am also having problems with the SD card taking up that much power. I have had them inserted for hours and never seen any power difference.

Seems if this solid state memory card was that bad with power, our SSDs would be sucking our laptops dry in no time!
