I have a beat up 15" uMBP that Is in dire condition and I need to replace now. It's the 2.8GHZ 4GB Model, Late 2008.

I've been eyeing the 13.3 2.13 4GB 256 Model, and have been seeing if it can handle what I use daily.
Here attached is a photo of my dock and I use all of these apps often. Can current owners tell me if this will be a fit for me? I love the high res 13 inch screen feature.
Also how are the speakers on these compared to the Macbook Pros?
    Thank you

I think the answer to your question depends on how - rather than what - you use your machine daily. I have both a Core i5 15" MBP and the new 13" MBA.

I create presentations; the rather solid nature of the MBP is something I won't give up. Much of the time, I have it connected to a 24" ADC, but when I don't have access to the display, the big screen and weight of the MBP becomes essential. Those who type and create rapidly know what I'm talking about.

On the other hand, the screen on the new 13" MBA is gorgeous. I wish my eyes were a little younger because the font sizes tend to be a little smaller. I've been using my iPad to give presentations when I had to; I'll now use the Air for that purpose.

The two machines serve very different needs for me; if you don't need the 15" size for anything in particular, the new Air should fill the bill without much problem. Good luck!

    Here's a list of problems.
    - Screen flickers on 9400m
    Gets deadly hot
On the left side of the lid, the display assembly has become unglued and i've tried to fix it and failed many times
    Hinges are useless and suck
no glass on the screen over the lcd
    battery lasts 1 hour
Dented all over, lid is shaped incorrectly
    webcam flaky
    and its loud

Mind you I would NEVER do this to my computer but I bought this from some kid who mistreated it and sold me it for 300$... good deal I guess but now it's time to replace it.

Yeah I look for the resolution more than the screen size. More Opinions please based off of the power of the 2.13 MBA compared to my 2.8GHZ MBP? I know itll be slower, but how much.
Any Geekbenches out there yet of the 2.13?

I have the 2.4 GHz 15" same generation as yours. Mine flickers too. I will replace it with the 13" Air 1.86GHz.

I don't see specially CPU intensive apps (except Import/Export in iMovie) in your dock. The Air will run much faster for these tasks simply because of its SSD.

Transmission doesn't have a Dog icon.

You should be just fine working on a 13in with those applications.

Yes the dog is GIMP and the lever is Transmission

What about 1080P flash videos? And the graphics card how is it compared to a 9600gt?

You're just looking to justify a new computer. If your computer works use it. If it doesnt get a new one. If you have the money for both congratulations.

It's not exactly this, I really hate the current gen of MBPS... they just irk me.
I do need to replace mine because fixing it (although I easily can) would be wayyyy to expensive and it would be better to buy a new machine.

Go for the Air. You will be fine and even better than your MBP
The only thing you can't use it on the Air is Transmission :D Because of the SSD drive. Otherwise you could save as some external storage
