Note to mods: apologies if this should go into a different section.

I bought myself a cheap case off AliExpress. It's actually really pretty, holds on to the Macbook really well, came with a keyboard protector which I threw away because it blocked backlight but, well, nice touch. It also does this:

I clean it every 1-2 days with dishwashing liquid and water and it looks good until I tough it again. :p I don't have dirty hands, it just loves fingerprints of all shapes and sizes.

I was thinking about buying an Incipio Feather until I read a review that said "fingerprint magnet". OH NO. I don't need another one. So. Does anybody have a:

    1. hard case that snaps onto the MB
    2. does NOT attract fingerprints
    3. does not make the MBA go abnormally hot

    ...that they could recommend?

    Thanks a lot!

So I used the search function, read reviews on Amazon and those are my conclusions:
    – Moshi is the best
    – except it's the worst and Speck is the best
    – except it's the worst and Kuzy is the best
    – except it's the worst and you should have a sleeve instead, or a foil, except all of them are simultaneously the worst and the best and the foils will not be possible to apply correctly unless you're a foil-applying professional who does that all day and night 24/7
    – all cases are fingerprint magnets
    – "my case is not a fingerprint magnet at all"
    – dust gets under the case and ruins the computer (how?) which would suggest case-less is the best way to go

If you're looking for me, I'm on the floor, dizzy and confused...

Thanks. They're completely not my type, so to say, though... I'm looking for a hard THIN case, something to add as little bulk to the Air as possible. Those are cool in their own way but they're not very... Air-like.

Nav- I am not sure whether you are aware of this but most damage that occurs to laptops happens during transport or storage, not during use.

As I read through your posts I am getting the sense that, as a "thing" that does a "job" a clip on cover/ shell is not doing it for you:

    1. Constantly having to clean it (you paid a premium for the beauty of an Air, but you cannot appreciate it because it always looks like crap because the shell that is supposed to protect it looks bad and is always covered in fingerprints).

    2. Adds weight and bulk - See the aforementioned comment about paying extra for the MacBook Air. This time your paying extra for the hours Apple had to pay it's engineers and designers to make it as thin and light as possible. Clip on your snap on cover and you have just added some weight and bulk, negating the premium you paid for all that design and engineering time.

    3. No one has yet mentioned how the clip-ons trap heat, dirt and dust and, over time, may abrade the finishing of your Air as well.

If most damage occurs during transport and/ or storage but not during use, wouldn't it make sense to protect your laptop during those times, and have the sleek, elegance, thinness and lightness of the 13" MacBook Air on full display when you are actually using it? Isn't that one of the whole points of purchasing an Apple product, to be able to look at it? Design is one of the things that separates Apple products from their PC and Android competition. Covering that with "a cheap case off Aliexpress" seems like a anathema.

Maybe what you are really looking for is a sleeve. Protects during transport and storage leaving you to appreciate the design when you are actually using your Air. And please, buy yourself and your Air something decent. :)
Preferably one not made of neoprene or that uses a zipper. You purchased one of the most relatively expensive laptops on earth. Doesn't deserve to be protected by something better than a cheap case off you know where?

If you've had an epiphany and want to start at the top, have a look at something like this -

    Premium Leather MacBook Air Sleeve

The vintage model would look great with your battle helmet. Good luck with your search!

Had a Speck case for 4 months then the bottom clips broke off. Considering the Mac was in a padded bag when it was stored they don't inspire quality.

As an aside, they used to be sold at retail locations including Apple stores, then one day they disappeared from every store I checked. They might have improved since then, but they definitely had a bad batch.
