If Apple retires the MacBook Air I imagine quite a few MacRumors regulars will be rushing to get their Airs purchased while they're still on the shelves. I am pleased that I bought an eleven-inch Air while they were still around – it's a really great laptop. I have a thirteen-inch Air, too, I bought some eighteen months later because it was on offer and the deal was too good to miss.

I think the Air is still a great computer for some people. And I've never had a problem with the screens, unlike some – I remember using a Mac SE for desktop publishing and it had a tiny mono screen. I lived to tell the tale.

The MacBook Air has a lot going for it, in my opinion, and will suit some people very well. It would still be my choice if I were in the market for a new computer today. I'd get a Mac Mini as well if they were worth buying but sadly that ship has sailed, for now.

As an aside, I remember when the iPod Classic was being retired and, despite owning a neat little iPod Nano with built-in radio, I got a Classic while they were still around. Never regretted that, either.

For those who are looking, or even thinking, to get the Air... don't discount buying a used one either. I got a 2015 2.2GHZ i7 8GB fully spec'd 13 inch for $600 and recently picked up a 2012 1.7GHz i5 4GB 11 inch for $83. Both have a 512GB SSD installed and work very well.

Wow, those are awesome prices! I see classified ads for people selling damaged units for $500 in my city!

The MacBook Airs, specifically the 2013 and later, are awesome laptops with extended battery life of 13 - 15 hrs. Better than any current "MacBook" laptops (I have no need for retina display). As far as I'm concerned, to each their own. There is no need to bash a person because they choose to stay with an older platform which happens to suit their needs perfectly.

Back in the day I used to get all caught up on having the latest tech but in the end you're throwing your money away having to have the latest tech.... pfffttt to that. Just stay with a platform that works best for you and call it a day...

If you look close enough you will learn how to find awesome deals like I did... :)
