Happened today. Trackpad and keyboard are "lost". hook up and external, fine. Called, Apple is sending a box to ship it back for replacement. That's the only option.

Is this within 14 days of purchase?

That's interesting too, not a crash then, just a loss of native input.

Oh,i got that issue too.
I really think this should be one OS bug or something like that.
happened just once, and it is after reboot when i connected with mini display port cable and power cords.

any further idea? I don't think we should get it back or replaced,it should not be big problem.

Just wanted to let you know that the Shop called and they found the Problem. The left usb Port really caused it, and they exchanged some Small Part on the logicboard which is responsible for that.

Best regards

This weeks hard freeze was due

It just happened, of all things, i refresh a web page in firefox.

No response from the keyboard, trackpad and shutting the lid did nothing, the screen stayed lit so doesn't look like a dodgy logic board for me.

Once again i had to turn it fully off and on again.

This is going to be a right pain as all my work is on this and Apple are going to want to send this away!

Do you think it is worth re-installing the OS? In a way i can't be bothered as i dont believe it is an OS problem or more people would have it. But if i dont they may just send me away suggesting i do this first.

The question is if you have used time machine to migrate an old setup of another Mac?

If so you should try installing Lion again. If not there is something wrong with your macbook. Have you looked up the log of your console? Maybe it is really a software wise problem which causes a freeze

Happened to me today (second time, can't remember what was opened the first time), I was running parallels, mail, safari and just plugged my iPad in and iTunes opened. FREEZE!

Which USB Port?
I had exactly the same problem as you, left usb port caused it in my case. Right was doing fine tho. Another problem which is known is that Parallels might run into some trouble with Macbook Airs.

Since I'm a new mac guy how do I report this to Apple so they can take a look at it? Windows has a report feature.

Mine was 2 days after I did a fresh erase, then lion and windows 7 install.

My apple software updates after the fresh install were iPhoto and the TB display deal, just 2 of them.

Well, try again by plugging iPad out, restart your mac, and plug it in again in the left side. I guess you have the same bug I had. They had to replace a small part on my logic board. If it happens again only on left side you should call Apple and see what they can do

Hang on, I'll try again right now...

Ok, its fine right now but what I DID do after the FREEZE was disable iTunes so it would NOT open when I plugged my iPad in. I'll try to re-enable iTunes to open automatically when I plug it in...

Try a USB HDD or something similar like a USB Stick on the left port and see what happens then.

Well, I did have my G-Tech 750gig small hd connected to the right port at the same time.

I just went through the steps (without the G-Tech hd connected to the right usb port) and did not have any problems, iTunes opened ok and synched with my iPad with the same programs running.

Please hold.

Everything now seems to be fine, I wonder if it was a time machine issue? Just don't know but I was told to by an apple because they are trouble free, I did have AOL and other programs running on windows 7.

Yeah well but as you had the freeze on the left port you should try to put the hdd on the left port swell and continue to see if the freezes only occur when you have something attached on one of the usb ports.

I know that's what caused the prob but I cannot duplicate it after a couple tries, time will tell and if it happens a gain I'll grab my note pad and write down exactly what my actions were.
