I'm getting a new 2012 MBA 13" over the coming weeks. I've been thinking of pairing it with one of these Iiyama 27" monitors ...

The image is from this website here.

The product website states the input signal can be DVI-D, VGA, HDMI, 3.5mm Jack. So what would be the best cable to use with my new MBA to connect to this monitor?

Also, any opinions on which is the best of those 3 monitors?

Thanks in advance!!

Hey - similar question here. I'm planning on getting the Dell U2412M monitor, which supports DVI, VGA and DisplayPort (no HDMI). What would be the best cable for this? miniDP --> DP or miniDP --> DVI ?

I'm considering the Dell U2412M too for my 2012 MBA (good "bang for buck" and you can even get a version with a silver bezel to match your MBA, though this version seems to cost a little more...), would be interested to hear how you get on with this, but yes in theory miles01110 is correct and miniDP --> DP would probably be the best way to go

The HDMI adaptor would be fine as it can output up to 1920x1200

I use a miniDP to HDMI adapter that I bought in the Apple store (Apple doesn't make it, but it seems to be their official solution) to connect my MBAs to my Dell 24" 1080p monitor. Both my 2010 and 2012 MBAs connect without issue.

Borrowing this thread for a related question: What if you want to connect 2 HDMI-monitors? I always work on two screens, and the Air can handle two daisy-chained Thunderbolt displays. However, I'd like both cheaper screens and screens with a HDMI-input, so the TB-display isn't really optimal. Is there any way to split a TB port to two HDMI displays? Technically it should be possible to make a TB-to-two-HDMI-adapter, but I don't think any exists, right?

Any of those options would work, and there won't be a discernible difference in quality. You can get the adapters much cheaper from amazon or ebay.

I don't think that exists yet. My bet is there will be a dock with a few additional video ports so you can hook up 2 more displays.

My suggestion for anyone looking for a single ultra high res is to wait a few months. There is supposed to be a sub $300 2560*1440 display soon.

Oh really? Do you have some more information on that?

I'm looking for a 24" display for my MBA, but could wait a few months for a higher resolution display, if there's anything on the horizon for that price point...
