What kind of screw holds the bottom of the MBA 2013. I believe it's supposed to be a T5, but that doesn't work. In magnifing a screw head, it looks like a Pentalobe design. I have a replacement battery arriving is a few days that is supposed to come with the necessary screw driver. Hope so. I also have a set of computer screws and tried a T5, but that doesn't work. Don't want to screw up the screws in the MBA. Also, is the direction to lossen these screws clock wise or counter clockwise. I think I read somewhere that the direction is opposite normal screws.

Counter clock-wise to remove exterior bottom screws. The screws are P5 pentalobe.
Ah, an Apple "hook" with counter clock-wise screws. I'm hoping the battery comes with the P5 pentalobe head.

Thanks for confirming the operation! As soon as I get my new battery, it's going in. Looks like a very easy job with the right screwdriver head.

Replacing the battery is a very easy job but it's easy to overtighten the battery screws strip the heads.

A bit scary opening my MBA, but it turned out to be a very easy job. Wonder why there are 2 different type screws. The 2 that come with the kit are a Torx T5 and a Pentalobe P5. I bought my kit from newertech who also has a video of the procedure on youtube. I was thinking of getting the latest MBA model, but now my 7 year old machine has new life. No, it's not faster but it's a lot cheaper than paying $1000+ for the new model.
