So I'm thinking of finally upgrading my 2014 MBA to the 2020 MBA. I have the base model of the 2014 MBA (i5) 128 GB SSD. I will only use my computer for very basic things such as typing documents, web browsing and managing my iTunes library. Will the base model be sufficient for my needs. It has an i3 chip but my needs are not great. We also have a windows 10 desktop at home. Would this be a good upgrade?

I might be selling my 2020 one if I go through this switch to the Note 20. FYI

I've got the base model 2020 Air, it's great for the use case you describe. I think you will be very happy with it. My use case is almost identical, and I've been very pleased with it. Fans have yet to turn on and it has run reasonably cool in all situations so far.

Of course, as we know, if you push the CPU it will get hot and throttle. IMO the base model is the best value for light tasks. I didn't find the i5 upgrade worth it, particularly considering the thermal issues.

If it's that the note 20 is basically a computer in your hand so I wouldn't really need both. Plus I have a windows work laptop.
Yeah I kind of feel like I should because my laptop is so old. But to be honest everything I need it for apart from managing my iTunes library I can do on my iPad Pro. I do have a windows 10 desktop at home to use. It’s basically a new MacBook or the note 20 ultra for me.
