Hi everyone,

I’m (mostly) satisfied with my MBA 2020 (i5/16GB/512GB) except for the display. I noticed the screen, when displaying black color, is not completely dark (as shown bellow, picture taken in a dark room).
I had the opportunity to own (for a month) a MBP 13” 2019 before replacing it with the Air and, as far as I can remember, the MBP screen was better on this scenario.

Is this normal/acceptable for the MBA 2020 display or is it an issue (backlight bleeding)?

Thank you so much!

That might be a concern if your going to work in a closet. If so you should request a return. This phenomenon has been posted for many years, many posted pictures. I would say from previous posts, yours looks like a keeper.

you will notice a small degrade experience going from the MBP to the MBA but that’s not from the closet, that’s 400 nit to 500 nit brightness.

I didn't have any issues on black or white screens when I had my Air (on a Pro now, same, no issues).

What a ridiculous moronic answer, surely the fact should be that at these prices you should get what you pay for, unbelievable !

IPS screens have low contrast and cannot display true blacks. My iPad Pro 11 and MacBook Pro 13 look the same as yours in a dark room. I wish the displays were better though. No edge bleeding on yours, so it's fine.
