Hi!

I own MBA 2018 and I can work for full day (only mail, web) and I think about changing to mba 2020. It is important to me to work without charging. mba 2020 owners, what can you say about real battery life new mba 2020 i3 or i5? And who changed from 2018 - did you notice any changes in portability?

thank you/

Haven’t owned an 2018 Air, but I have no problem using my i3 base a whole working day (around 8h) and still having between 30% and 40% battery left at the end of the day (mail, safari with no ad blocks, slack chatting, ms teams chatting and few short VCs, vs remote coding, libreoffice document writing, little music etc.). Never have I felt I’m running out of battery for the last 3 or 4 weeks (I usually get an estimate of 10-13h battery time with autobrightness).

It depends what you're doing.

I've never run out of battery, and regularly get 12-13 hours estimates for wifi browsing type stuff when using it indoors in the evening on somewhere around 40-50% brightness using safari with an ad blocker.

If you're doing something CPU heavy, life will be less.

I think you'll be fine with the i3 or i5 - the i3 I'm using can easily get 10 hours without a charge just emailing a web browsing (and that's using a Chromium based browser - your battery life would increase like Thro's if you're a Safari user).

Compared to my 2019, the battery life is slightly worse, but I'd still describe it as 'all day' for light use, and it sounds like you're in that category.

My battery life is significantly lower than most as i keep my screen at 80% brightness at all times.
