I have a MBA and just got a new iMac.

I now have all my pics into iPhoto on my iMac. Since the iMac has a 1TB hard drive and the MBA has only an 80GB HD, I was wondering if they could share the iMac's iPhoto library. They are both on the same network.

I realize I could probably accomplish this easier using an external HD for iPhoto but I don't want to do that as I will do the bulk of the work of the photos on the iMac and I want the MBA just for viewing the pics.

    Thanks for the help.

Not sure about iPhoto '08 - but your sure can do it in iPhoto '09

    on your imac:
    iPhoto>Preferences>Sharing Tab>Share my photos

    on your MBA
    iPhoto>Preferences>Sharing Tab>Look for shared photos

Works just like shared iTunes libraries - very useful and easy

I use my apt building's Wifi Network. Can I share files from my iMac to my air on that as well?

Depends on how the network is setup... give it a try and see what happens.

You can't have 2 computers access the same iPhoto library, it works to a point then you will end up with a corrupt data file. I wish Apple would sort this so i can leave one huge library in my house for all of us to access.

You can access shared libraries and you can get programs to help manage library sharing but this is not as nice as actually accessing the same data.

Is this a fact that you will get corrupt data file? I was going to try the recommendation a few posts up for sharing iPhoto and iTunes but I'm wondering if others experience the corrupt file like you did.

    Thanks.
