My 1 month old MBA cannot see my router when I open it after hibernating. I'll have to move to the second floor, much closer to the router, before it suddenly sees it and connects. Then I can take it back down to my office and it works perfectly with a full bar on the wifi... any sùggestions?

Make sure you have the latest updates to OSX. There was a wifi bug afflicting mba's last year, but I haven't seen any issues for quite a while.
If that doesn't work, you might try going into System Preferences and removing the network from your list, and finding it again.
