Hello - I have a 2012 Macbook Air that seems to quickly power down when its not plugged in. The battery status says "Service Battery" and when I ran Coconut Battery it says I am at 40.3% of Design Capacity. I have attached the Coconut Battery results - is it time for me to buy a new battery? If so, does anyone know roughly how much they charge for this at the Apple Store?

    Thanks!!

They charge $129 in the US.

40% after 378 cycles is pretty poor performance. Apple says their batteries should be at 80% after 1000 cycles.

If you're super nice about this and ask them what they can do for you re: this poor performance, maybe they can be talked into giving you a new battery for free?

Just call the Genius Bar.. they will probably tell you that the battery failed and replace it for free it's not normal that it is at 40%..
