Thanksgiving discounts (i.e. Black friday) on Apple Store online is usually only around 100 USD at the most, if any.

Nope, doubt it. Apple will have their usual BF specials but a new product, especially the MBA that seems to be quite popular in less than a week certainly won't be discounted.

I thought it usually was 10% discount on black Friday? I was thinking the same thing, or wait for refurbs to arrive.

They will be on backorder. Current stock will be depleted by next payday.

My guess is $50 off for Black Friday. My memory is hazy, but it seems like we've seen something like that before. It was essentially the same as the educational discount, which didn't "stack" along with the BF deal.

If everyone who gasped at the absence of a backlit keyboard either cancel their order or return their MBA, Apple might be offering a bigger than usual discount -- or a free USB powered LED flex keyboard lamp.

For the interest of comparison, here's the MR post last year that outlined the deals to be had for Apple's Black Friday 2009 promotion.

Not all products are included. There may be no discount/sale at all on MBAs.

Student discount is $50... usually for black friday they just offer the student discount to everyone.

Or you can just buy it from the EDU store now for $950...

usually it is going to be from $50 to $101 (from low end to high end), but not on all the products, MBA might be excluded...

but there will be deals from macmall, amazon and and other retailers

credit card cash back also helps (some additional cash back from card companies also help) :D
