What size MBP would you buy instead of the Air? Cuz one nice thing about the Air is that it has a higher resolution than the 13" Pro. This helps with just about everything; having two windows side-by-side is easier, more content displays on your web pages, things look clearer...

Because of the low resolution, and that the 13" MBP is heavier than the VAIO SA, which I didn't choose because of the price and uncertainty about noise, I went for the small Thinkpad.

The resolution of the Thinkpad is smaller than I want, but it's correct for 11".

I would have bought an Aspire S3 if it had the right resolution. The other ultrabooks make no sense because they also use a micro SSD.

Your question is, "what is this other that is taking up my disk space" and has little to do with Random Access Memory, which is what people refer to when they say "memory".

I would suggest that it's silly to pay money for an application that gives you the same information that you can easily get from Finder and Terminal.

Using finder to show your disk space is really easy.

Thanks for the info. I went back and reread the original post. I guess my question wasn't really on topic.

Sorry for cluttering up this thread.

If the Asus U24E had been released globally, I would have bought that instead of the Thinkpad.

there is a reason why the iPhone does not have a 7inch screen. i generally buy the biggest screen i can afford and have had several 17 mbps. it seems like apple is moving toward smaller and lighter and that includes smaller screens. i wonder what will happen to the 15 and 17 mbps.

Agreed on the iPhone screen, bigger isn't better for me either in that case, but then again I don't look at it for hours on end.

I'm looking really forward to a 15" MBA if they ever make one, if it was available in 17" I'd buy that. But, remember I have a MacBook Air too for mobile use, lounging on couch, bed etc.

My suggestion is if you're using it for long hours buy the biggest screen you can manage. I'd of been better off using a 17" MBP all along for enjoyment and productivity since I'm not using it primarily on my lap or carrying all day.
