I have a Macbook Air running Chrome and Safari and
my CPU seems to be overloaded from tasks like Flash Player for Safari
and a few other weird tasks i see in Activity monitor.
They are taking up 80% of my CPU. I shut down everything but
the tasks are still taking up 80% CPU, weird......

Does anyone know what's going on ?

Try a PRAM-reset.

I don't know off the top of my head-- but everytime I need to do one I Google the make of my computer and the keyword "PRAM Reset"; in your case I would search "Macbook Air PRAM Reset". You'll likely find that one of the first results is a helpful Apple webpage with step-by-step instructions.
