Thunderbolt I/O technology gives you two channels on the same connector with 10 Gbps of throughput in both directions.

    Lol @ Marketing :D

Newly patented technology: Press key to perform action = magic...
Now I fear that my umbrella might infringe on this technology...

    Wikipedia says:
So, could it be 20 Gbit/s per direction in thunderbolt mode?

    No, as it says:
    2 channels (one input, one output) @ 10GBit/s each = 20 Gbit/s

Oh, right. I misunderstood what wikipedia said... I thought it said 10 GBit/s per lane, but as you highlighted, it's 10 GBit/s per channel.
