I'm considering buying a MBA 13".

In the store I was surprised at how different the MBA keyboard felt compared to the MBP.

I write for hours on my computer everyday, so the feel of the keyboard is a much bigger concern for me than it would be for most users. (because of travel, using an external keyboard isn't an option).

I was just wondering how owners who type a lot everyday feel about the keyboard - especially, anyone who didn't like the keyboard at first.

Thanks for any insights.
Unfortunately, none of my friends own an MBA, so there isn't one that I can test drive for a couple of days. (renting one to test drive was more than I wanted to spend)

I found they keyboard a little difficult at first because it is a chiclet keyboard (I was a PC user) and that the keys are a little shallow. I know prefer shallow keys because a light touch will work also.
Hope I helped, and enjoy your laptop :)

They're both equally pleasant to type on, I find. Though the MBA keys definitely have a slightly softer travel to them than the MBP keys, which seem to pop back a little more strongly.

I would agree with NutsNGum, both the MBA and MBP keyboards are nice and you quickly adjust. What I did have a difficult time with the other day though, was having to use a PC keyboard for the first time in years. The keyboard just seemed mushy and vague, the key travel far to long. I found it hard to type on, but before switching, I thought the MBP keyboard was a little weird. It is all in what you are used to, muscle memory and familiarity kicks in, you adjust and become comfortable.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I do think it's most likely a matter of getting used to it. If I do buy the MBA I'll post back with my impressions of the keyboard after a week or so.

To chrof97 - the keyboard between the MBA and MBP look identical on the surface but are in fact different.

Personally, I prefer the MBP's keyboard to the MBA's - but that's based on in-store use and not owning an MBA.
