The iPhone 14 Pro is again sold for $999, it is the same price as last year.

Doesn't mean production costs didn’t go up.

Do you understand basic economics?

They likely didn't charge more because they want to sell more. They also probably cut corners elsewhere to keep profits up.

Most manufacturers are doing this for now until they can't absorb the increase in production costs and pass on to the consumer.

Just because you don't see inflation on some things doesn't mean it is not happening in what you can't see.

Cost of things like oil have ripple effects across the entire economy. Causing prices to go up across the board.

But I am no expert. Maybe I am an idiot. But your logic and arguments just don't make much sense to me?

If costs went up, Apple would have passed on the costs to the customers and jacked up the price of the iPhone 14 Pro.

You think Apple is a charity?

Look what happened to Europe. The Euro become worthless, so Apple jacked up the prices in Europe as Apple is not going to pay for that costs. They run a business, not a charity.

You are just making stuff up really.

It is called currency valuation. Currency values for different countries fluctuate and Apple compensated to charge the same value as American dollars. They didn't raise the price. The value of the Euro fell.

No Apple is not a charity and that is why due to lower sales of MBA vs iPhone they raised the price of the base model M2 MBA due to inflation and the cost of a redesign.

I provided links to the cost increase of a16. Apple didn't use a16 across iPhone line. I wonder why? They only used it on their most expensive phones where they could absorb more production costs.

But yes I am making stuff up says the person that talks about Intel CPU costs. Lol

I just checked your link of PhoneArena.com, and I find it very hard to believe as Apple didn’t increase the price. But let’s assume we use these types of websites as “facts”, and then we also find claims that the iPhone 14 Pro Max is only $60 more expensive to produce than the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

And this includes all kinds of new innovations such as “dynamic island”, a 2000 nits Pro XDR display, which their own $6000 Pro XDR monitor doesn’t even have and much better camera’s.

If Apple was hit by inflation, the production cost difference would be a whole lot more than $60, given the big innovations that is with the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

But like I said, Apple is not a charity. If Apple didn’t increase the price, it means they are doing just fine.

You didn’t provide links to the cost increase of the A16, you provide link to a website that claims it. What PhoneArena.com says cannot be considered as facts.

The fact is, the iPhone 14 Pro with the A16 chip (and many new innovations) has the exact same price as last years phone.

If you don't value those quality of life improvements at a ~$400 premium for an equivalent specced M2, save the money and get the M1 MacBook Air. You won't be disappointed and it will be a great laptop for years to come.
Not sure where the $400 figure comes from. The difference between base models of M1 and M2 Air is $200 ($999 and $1199, respectively).

You can get a refurbished base model M1 Air for $850 from Apple, which puts it at a $350 difference.

I want to buy the MBA M2 base model, but I dont see the point in the big price difference from MBA M1 base model and MBA M2 base model.

When will apple discontinue the current MBA M1 and only have MBA M2 for purchase?

Do you think this would drop the extremly overpriced MBA M2 price?

Do you think that this might happen during October "event" or press-release?
No why would this October event cancel an existing product. It’s to introduce new products.

They’re going to keep the M1 version for people who feel that the M2 is just too much. Even when the M1 version gets discontinued, it’s unlikely they will lower the price of new design. If you’re trying to save money occasionally you’ll see sales posted here with Amazon links. Other than that, check out the Apple refurbished store.

I wouldn’t call the M2 Air extremely overpriced, but if it’s out of your budget get the M1 version. Most of the changes are cosmetic. If you’re willing to go with an older looking design, it will do pretty much everything the newer version will. At some point sure the M1 version will be discontinued but if you’re asking this question here at this time obviously you need a laptop.

Take a look at the pricing history when new MBA designs are released. Every time a new design is released the price goes up about $200+/-. Then, it drifts back down over the next couple of years until it reaches the magical $999. This has been going since the MBA became Apple's most popular everyday laptop in 2010. I assume it is due to the cost of new production tooling and components required for a new design. As production ramps up, economies of scale kick in and unit costs drop, so pricing drifts back down. Apple has been following this pattern with the MBA for years. No great mystery.

You are only looking at United States prices, my friend.

I just bought a 2TB Samsung SSD doing 7 TB/s for less money than last year. I don’t see the inflation with computers yet.

But you guys go ahead and pay more money when someone yells “inflation”.
Which 2TB Samsung SSD? Technology depreciates readily and rapidly. If it's the same exact SSD, seems about right. Plus, you CANNOT group Apple pricing with all computer parts. Apple makes a HUGE profit on it's products and retains value- allowing for more price flexibility. On the note of inflation, it was only 2 percent less last October which is moot when it comes to technology.

It has nothing to do with production or Apple, but rather markets. You said it yourself. Euro is worthless.
