Ok folks so I have a 16 in 2019 MacBook Pro, and 11 in iPad Pro. I dislike the physical keys of the iPad Pro Smart Keyboard or the magic keyboard. So I’m tempted with the mba m1. This is pure speculation but with the theoretical redesign of the 13 inch Mac to a 14 inch I’m hesitant to spend on an m1 mba if there’s a redesign. But then again apple might not update the mba for a period of time since it’s the cheap MacBook and the pro will get the new design???? Do you all think this maybe the trend? I’d love the m1 battery life specifically and portable nature but a new body would be great as I’ve owned a 2015 12in MacBook and a 13in MacBook Pro 2017 and all have the same design as the current m1.

I only think the non M1 macbook pro machines get updated and redesigned this fall and macbook Air at earliest redesigned next year, possible with an 15" version added. I hope the 13" would get smaller. My M1 air is not as nice to handle as my old 11" macbook air.

I think Kuo said the air will update in 2022 probably late 2022. The pros will get redesign this fall.

If you were in the market for a pro id wait. For the air though I'd go for it now.

I don't expect the Air design will refresh this year, though to be honest it wouldn't bother me either way. I really like the current design and I'm not really sure how drastically the design will alter. Rumours they might square it off but I prefer the slight curves on this one. They can trim it down by about half an inch total if they really go to down on the bezels and scale down the speakers? But meh, this one will still look great regardless of what they replace it with.

If you want an Air now, get an Air now.

2022. It’ll be a big change as the refresh will have mini LED with a flat edge design on the top and bottom.

You think the mba will receive the mini-led, given that is one of apple's cheapest laptop?

Thanks, I'm probaby going to pull the trigger on the mba.

The M1 MBA is the best Mac I have ever owned and the price is reasonable. I doubt you will regret the purchase.
HA thanks I bet it is. What do you say that though? Curious, is it the battery life, the fast performance? No fan with cooler temps? Its $850 apple refurbished!

Ok I bought it! I’m impressed. It’s sitting on my bed downloading apps and it’s cool! No heat. Amazing. The bottom of the computer is cool to the touch.
There's a lot to like with these new devices, the lack of heat and no noise right up there imho. The constant sound of my Intel (2020) Air drove me mad. That and the fact it was slow as begeezus.

the m1 is awesome! Like having a cool iPad but it’s a laptop. I wonder what 6 in will be like.

I'm super impressed with my M1 MBA. Doesn't even get slightly warm to the touch nor slow down in the slightest driving my 4K display at a scaled resolution.
Trying that on my wife's 2016 15" MacBook Pro with results in fan speeds sufficient to levitate the machine were it not for the bottom case.

Hey everyone I'm in the same boat contemplating a MacBook air m1 but also seeing that Apple is doing a redesign on the pros and coming out with m2. I think I'm going to pull the trigger though. Apple normally doesn't refresh the air at the same pace as the Pro. Also I feel the pricing of the pro is gonna be higher than the ones released last year.

Yes I think so too. Imho air and base pro will be the same design with a low price but the 14 inch will be a premium MacBook Pro on the higher end probably mid to high 1k. I already have a 16 in MacBook so I don’t need to spend that much for another mac.

I agree with your observation as well as @1rottenapple. Unless you are running apps at sustained levels on a daily basis that taxes the CPU, the M1 Air will do nicely.

Wow I took my laptop on a few days trip and I love this little machine. Battery life is awesome! My backpack is light, I don't notice it (similar to my 12 Mini that I barely notice), unlike the 16 in MacBook that takes a lot of room in my gear bag. I did a work project while I'm on this trip for my job. And used it to stream some documentaries and playing streaming music and videos. I also downloaded episodes from the HBO Max app for offline viewing. This is the best deal for $899 on Amazon. I paid $915 out the door with tax(used a $50 dollar Amazon gift card I received).
