Problem with this is that its just a matter too time before you ran out of storage space (or is force to buy more and more expensive onboard storage space). For example, between my wife and I we have 1.5TB just on photos/videos alone (and it's increasing fast with photo and 4K videos). We would have to go with the 2TB upgrade just to cover our usage based on your method. A 2TB upgrade is currently listed as $600 on Apple website, it's quite of a bit of a upgrade.

Is that something you have thought about? Not trying to argue here, but I have long realized on-board storage isn't the long term solution. My current solution is to have a Mac Mini as my primary machine with external drive that is doing backup from Photo and third-party backup as well. Leaving to only having to get either the 256 or 512GB in terms of on-board memory.
don't forget apple's new direction with the 48mp camera 😂

Just curious, why M2 MBP 13" is not compared? Is it very bad, not comparable to M2 14" or M2 MBA? Even in my country, M2 MBP 13" is cheaper than M2 MBA 13"
You're the second person whom i've seen in the space of a week talk about the 14" M2 MBP as though it actually already exists. I'm not sure whether this is a success or failure on behalf of Apple's marketing dept. But based on this evidence alone, I bet at least one person out there has recently bought a 14" MBP and thinks it's an M2.

I am happy I went with the 14" MBP, the better screen and speakers is much nicer.

You get a slightly bigger screen, more pixel density, ProMotion, and local dimming. You will definitely notice the contrast even without HDR. Blacks can get pure black, and colours can have more range.

Would you have made the same decision if the MBP isn't your primary machine?

I have a Mac mini connected to a huge monitor already. I picked up the MBP 14 mostly due to pricing (very nice discount). But all and all it's simply a replacement for my MBP 13 (from 2011), and I'm not using it as much as I thought I would. I was thinking to just pick up the base MacBook 14. In the end the price difference is roughly $700 difference...sigh..
imo you will be happiest with the air. if it is not your primary machine (and your other machine isa desktop) I recommend that your second machine be more portable. there is a significant difference between the two there. if youre getting a laptop, it ought to be much more portable than your desktop.

Unless screen is priority #1 for you.. (i will admit the air screen makes a lot of scrifices, compared to the pro)

does anyone worry however, with the MBP over the Air being an M2 vs. M1, and soon to be outdated technology in comparison, overall? I do notice the MBP screen looks more "yellowish" to me anyway. Such a tough decision!!!
Yes, I would have liked to see the MBP 14/16 offered with the base M2. The M1 Pro/Max are faster for heavy tasks like video editing, compiling heavy code etc, but the M2 is faster for daily tasks (opening apps, webpages etc) which has been shown on multiple videos on you tube. Some of us want the base M2 but with the Mini LED Pro-motion screen and all the extra ports especially the SD card slot for theirs DSLR's.

Dear friends, thank you for your answers, recommendations ... It's me, the author of this topic. Well, it's been more than two weeks of using the M2 Air. I can say that I am delighted. I have never felt such speed with current tasks, such premium design, such lightness. Now my laptop is always with me. And dark blue color pleases my eyes every day. I take it anywhere and everywhere. And the autonomy of the laptop is excellent. All these premium features make me forget that the display is not a mini led.

Awesome, glad to hear it. I've just travelled for the first time with my M2 and I'm delighted. Its the first laptop where I can take it out of my bag, open it up and its ready to use as instantly as an iPad. For me its perfect. I wasn't sure about the midnight colour but love it now, despite the odd finger print.

It's great to hear you are happy with your purchase! Returning and setting up a new machine can be quite a hassle.

I am very pleased with my M2 Air as well. It's a perfect machine the serve both my professional and personal needs in one place with 2 accounts. The quick switching between accounts is pretty much instantaneous. This makes it perfect for traveling and not having to worry about which computer(s) I bring.

Well before mini led came out last year, Mac displays were all ips and quite well regarded overall. Its still a 500 nit, QHD display with great colour accuracy. So im glad you gave it the proper chance to see how well it suited your needs. Its a shame so many never gave these the proper chance. They really are a fantastic and very fast.

No I think you are in the majority for sure.

There isn't a bad choice. The M chips and redesign of the Air and new Pros are fantastic laptops!

Yeah I don't think anyone is wrong with the device they choose. The 14" MacBook Pro and the 13" M2 MacBook Air are both great laptops and there is a ton of overlap in value and there are just slight nuanced differences between the two. The MacBook Air provides a bit more portability and battery life, the MacBook Pro provides a bit more performance and features.
