I'm on 10.13.4 and it shows no updates available. I know 10.13.6 is available but my computer won't recognize that it is in fact available. I downloaded the update manually from Apple's site and when I go to install it, it says that the computer is not supported, or something to that effect. Thoughts? Thanks.

Apple's own support paperwork shows the mid-2011 Air will not be eligible for Mojave - that starts with the 2012 Air. Latest High Sierra is last supported.

Dosdude 1 patch is found via Google, but its clearly something of a process to install, has some reported issues, and I'd rather have a stock (albeit 'obsolete') Air, rather than tempt fate.

I have switched my main system to Mojave on my Mid 2011 and it is running great. Performance at least equal to 10.13 or earlier.
I have High Sierra 10.13.6 as a second boot partitions with a minimal system. I never run a system without a second boot. Recovery is too limited.

Try downloading the Apple 10.13.6 combo updater (you can go directly from 10.13.4 to 10.13.6):
