I'd suggest that for many people, the M series ipads can handle that, especially the M4/M5. Some need macOS. Most probably don't.

Agree. However, for me, I prefer the MBA to the iPad for document handling and creation. In particular, I find spreadsheets significantly easier to create and manipulate on an MBA. YMMV.

As it relates to cost and weight, there really is no advantage either way. A 13in iPad Air (256GB storage) on sale with Apple keyboard case is going to cost about the same (or more) as a base MBA on sale.($749 on Amazon). They weigh about the same when you put the iPad in a case. Bottom-line: folks should get what works best for their needs.

The only way I've been able to keep my watch was to turn off all notifications and silence it (except for calls from favorites). Otherwise I'd have gone insane. (Saves tons of battery life too).

So I can see why people getting rid of watch and other things would have a huge impact on their life. lol.

Or you rightly sized your tech needs :)
What I was trying to get at with this thread (and I might have missed the mark) is that tech devices tend to creep into our lives over time. Recently, I have simplified my tech life to an MBA + iPhone. So, I started this thread to ask if others have been going through a similar journey to simplify and minimize their tech life. And, in particular, to find out if others find that an MBA + iPhone meet their needs.

As for whether this is simplification, minimization, or just plain "right sizing" is largely a matter of semantics

Yeah, hard pass on the iPad for me. Too clunky of an OS, despite the incredible hardware.

I've been a MBA-iPhone user for a while now, mainly MBA because I mirror the iPhone. Tried iPad a few times but it's too awkward to use and has some quirks when web browsing, e.g. you have to be careful on X in case it starts double-spacing.
